Buying a Home Moving Tips

Start Using Perishables

Trying to find food while you’re preparing to move can be a bummer. You don’t want to buy things that may go bad during the move and you’re too exhausted to cook. Stop purchasing frozen food or foods with short self lives several weeks before the move. You’ll thank us later.

Make an essentials bag
Go ahead and start creating an essentials bag from the supplies in your kitchen. This is a bag you will keep with you throughout the move and not in your moving truck. The essentials bag will have things like snacks, napkins, cleaning supplies, or utensils. Avoid packing things you may have to clean or have a hard time preserving.

Things to pack

  • Plastic utensils
  • Paper towels
  • Dishsoap
  • Hand soap
  • Bread
  • Peanut butter
  • Crackers
  • Water bottles
  • Coffee
  • Coffee maker
  • Any other snacks you or your family enjoys

Take a break
Take the time to go out to dinner with your family or have one cooking night. Just make sure to cook things that make easy leftovers.

Do your best to eat sustainable items so you feel healthy to move and lift your belongings. It’s only for a short time and you’ll be thankful you didn’t waste money purchasing food that ultimately gets thrown away.
